Looking to make a move?

Whether you rent, own, or live at home, housing is a topic on most people’s minds who reside in the Greater Vancouver area. Prices have skyrocketed over the past decade in our beautiful area of the world and most people are faced with many compromises when it comes to housing and close proximity to work. Compromise space and get a small apartment in order to live close to your office? Go for a larger house in the suburbs and spend extra time commuting? Continue renting and hope one day you can save enough for a down payment on your own place? Leave British Columbia altogether? Or just live with mom and dad forever?  Yikes!

If you’re one of the many people that prefer owning over renting, space and neighbourhood above a commute – you will want to consider the Sunshine Coast (affectionately called the Coast by locals). In the past 5 years many millennials, young families, and retirees alike have sought out alternatives and discovered Langley and Squamish as suitable solutions to their housing needs.  This has led to an increase in prices for these areas.  Although prices on the Coast have increased, the price of real estate is still the best value for your money in keeping with a manageable daily commute to Vancouver at about half the cost of alternatives.

With comparable commute times to Langley and Squamish, the Coast can be accessed by walking/driving on BC Ferries (40min crossing time from Horseshoe Bay to Gibsons) or hopping on a seaplane (20min from Sechelt to downtown Vancouver). Our micro breweries, 5 star restaurants, Coast Seawalks, Public Market, countless beaches, hikes and local backcountry ski hill will leave you wondering why you questioned leaving Vancouver to begin with.  Gibsons has been named World’s Most Liveable Community, awarded best tasting water in the world, and we’re also a recipient of the Community Energy Association’s Energy & Climate Action Award.

Still not convinced? Come over for a weekend and see for yourself!  That’s exactly how one of our team member’s ended up selling her condo in Port Moody and relocating to the beautiful Sunshine Coast 10 years ago. All it takes is a weekend to fall in love with everything we have to offer.  Look forward to showing you around!
